Whether you are living with a serious illness or caring for someone who is, Tidewater Hospice can help.

Whether you are living with a serious illness or caring for someone who is, Tidewater Hospice can help. No matter your age, diagnosis, or stage of illness, we are here to offer comfort, help, and support.

Tidewater Hospice was formed in 2006 by a group of hospice medical workers who believe that we can provide a higher level of care and compassion to patients in the Low Country. Our Hospice teams include Hospice and Palliative Care Board Certified Physicians that visit with our patients in their homes – yes, that’s right, house calls – to provide answers, advice, and support to our patients and their families during this important stage of life.

For patients who have an illness that cannot be cured, there are many important concerns and issues – unique to each individual – that must be addressed. Tidewater Hospice can help patients identify and sort through the many options available for improving the quality of the time that they have to spend with loved ones. This may include:

* Choices about what types of care and support they personally wish to receive – and where they wish to receive it;
* Control of pain and other symptoms so they can spend each day in comfort and enjoy quality time with friends and loved ones;

* Spiritual and emotional support that helps them and their families

Care and services are provided by a highly specialized team of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, therapists, social workers, aides, clergy and volunteers. Together, they help patients and families live life to the fullest extent possible, and help them address the wide array of issues that arise at the end of life. In addition, they provide bereavement support for family members of all ages following the death of their loved ones.

The costs of hospice care are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most other insurance plans. Uninsured patients are accepted through the generosity of tax deductible donations. Volunteers and donations are always needed. If you are fortunate enough to be able to help, please contact our office or visit our web site.
