Established 28 years ago as a “not-for-profit” agency, we were the only hospice serving Hilton Head and Bluffton. Today, we remain the only Medicare certified not-for-profit hospice with a palliative care component in the area.
A True Non-Profit Hospice
Since that humble start we are now recognized as the expert leaders in hospice and palliative care. We are the largest and most successful hospice in this area with never a thought for profit. In addition to Medicare reimbursement and private insurance, we must also cover the cost of care for individuals who may be uninsured. As a true “grass-roots” charitable organization, the money donated to us through our own fundraisers, community donations, local grants, and the Hospice Community Thrift store, goes directly to support the welfare of local people.
Our Team Exceeds the Standard for End of Life Care!

When an individual is welcomed into the loving arms of Hospice Care, his or her physical, spiritual and emotional needs become the focus of the professionals who will provide care. An individual care plan is created based on those needs.
The patient’s comfort level is foremost, and we will do everything we can to alleviate pain and discomfort. At the same time, we offer our support and care to the family who will journey with this person through this very special time.
Patients and families are given the remarkable opportunity to spend quality time together, to reconfirm or repair relationships, to create new memories. The end of life can be a very sweet, enlightening and joyful time.
Cost of service is never an issue. Medicare, Medicaid and most commercial insurances will pay hospice benefits for care, medication related to the diagnosis, and durable medical equipment as prescribed by a doctor.
But even if a person is not covered by any insurance plan, nwe never send a bill for services. We are guided by our mission to care for anyone in need, regardless of ability to pay.
We also serve individuals diagnosed with a terminal illness who wish to continue life-prolonging treatments. The same hospice principles of pain management and sympton control are applied.
