Quality of Life and Service Go Hand in Hand at Carolina House

At Brookdale assisted living and memory care residences, we feel a person’s ability to choose how they live is essential to their well-being. While some people are able to live at home all their lives, others may need more help managing daily living tasks. Since 1981, Brookdale has been committed to providing an exceptional living experience through properties that are designed, purpose-built, and operated to provide the highest-quality service, care, and living accommodations for our residents. We approach every one of our residents with the same goal: to provide personalized care and service to improve quality of life, allowing residents to age with dignity and independence.

Warm & Caring

Carolina House of Bluffton is an assisted living community that combines housing, lifestyle, and services for individuals who require assistance with daily living, but do not need the skilled medical care provided in nursing homes. Our warm, intimate environment offers a home-like setting with common areas for small groups to enjoy social times together, such as meals, and still have privacy whenever it’s desired. Services offered at Caroline House of Bluffton include assistance with personal care, 24-hour trained staff, three meals and snacks each day, laundry, housekeeping, medication assistance, and life enrichment programs.

Alzheimer’s Care and Our Discovery Program

At Carolina House, the best thing we can give the family of a loved one suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, or related memory disorders, is peace of mind. Our Discovery Program provides specialized services and housing tailored to the individual needs of our residents. Carolina House has specialized building features, including common living and dining areas, as well as screened porches and enclosed courtyards, so your loved one can enjoy the outdoors and experience the freedom they desire. Our staff is trained in handling the behaviors associated with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of memory loss, and they are available to assist with unscheduled needs, night or day.

Life Enrichment at Carolina House

Carolina House’s Life Enrichment Program is designed to enhance the quality of life of older adults through life skills, continuing education, spirituality, wellness programs, fitness, recreation, cultural programs, art, music, and social events. Our programming offers each resident the opportunity to find happiness and satisfaction in their daily lives, in an environment that supports them as an individual. Life Enrichment, unlike other “activity programs,” is a continual process that encompasses everything a resident does. If a resident enjoys reading, music, gardening, or just about anything else, we find ways to incorporate those activities into their daily lives.

An integral component of our Life Enrichment Program is Life Skills. The Life Skills philosophy is based on the belief that a resident’s daily experiences should reflect, as much as possible, that individual’s preferred lifestyle while providing a sense of usefulness, pleasure, and as normal a level of functioning as possible. The amount of satisfaction an individual receives from doing the things that make up each day goes a long way to determining their overall satisfaction with life. Our Life Enrichment Program supports that concept because it maximizes independence while focusing on the abilities and preferences that enhance the quality of life of the resident.

Preserving each resident’s sense of individuality is a key component to maintaining and improving quality of life. Our staff continually works to balance each resident’s care plan with his or her individual needs and preferences, which is vital to quality of life and important in maintaining positive self-esteem.

The Carolina House Difference
